School nurses in Vermont are required to have the following:

SCHOOL NURSE

bullet

Requires an earned Baccalaureate degree

bullet

Current Vermont RN License

bullet

Current CPR Certificate

bullet

Current First Aid Certificate

bullet

4 years clinical nursing experience beyond nursing education

bullet

Completion of an approved education school nurse orientation program and

bullet

Other requirements from the Vermont Department of Education.

ASSOCIATE SCHOOL NURSE

bullet

Requires Associate's Degree/Diploma from an accredited nursing program

bullet

Current Vermont RN License

bullet

Current CPR Certificate

bullet

4 years of clinical nursing experience that must include community health and pediatric nursing

bullet

Completion of an approved education school nurse orientation program and

bullet

Other requirements from the Vermont Department of Education.

Although not required by the state of Vermont, you may want to consider obtaining National School Nurse Certification.
