The VSSNA is now:

 

 


School nurses in Vermont are required to have the following:

SCHOOL NURSE

Requires an earned Baccalaureate degree

Current Vermont RN License

Current CPR Certificate

Current First Aid Certificate

2 years of nursing experience within the last 4 years

Completion of an approved educational school nurse orientation program and

Other requirements from the
Vermont Department of Education.

ASSOCIATE SCHOOL NURSE

Requires Associate's Degree/Diploma from an accredited nursing program

Current Vermont RN License

Current CPR Certificate

Current First Aid Certificate

4 years of clinical nursing experience that must include community health and pediatric nursing

Completion of an approved educational school nurse orientation program and

Other requirements from the
Vermont Department of Education.

Although not required by the state of Vermont, you may want to consider obtaining National School Nurse Certification.
